One of the most evident characteristics of the urban areas of Emilia Romagna is undoubtedly the presence of arcades: practically every town, small or large, has at least one.
Queen of this architecture has been recognized Bologna: in 2021 UNESCO has included the capital of Emilia-Romagna in the world heritage.
Consider that only the ancient part has 38 Km, but overall there are 62 Km, which means that if they were put all in a row, you could go from Bologna to Reggio Emilia without ever giving up their protection.
By force of seeing them you could mistake them for banal covered sidewalks, but in reality they are often majestic works of art.
